Joel is six years old and has spent the last five years growing up at the Rados Initiative. He came into our care when he was just one year old, after the death of his mother left him without the care and protection every young child deserves.
Joel's early years were marked by loss and uncertainty. After his mother passed away in the Kajogo slums, he was left alone at an age when he needed someone to hold his hand, protect him and help him discover the world around him. Rados Initiative stepped in and welcomed Joel into a safe and caring home.
Today, Joel is no longer the little one-year-old boy who arrived needing someone to care for him. He is growing into a bright, confident and joyful young boy. Through the support of his caregivers, education and the love of the Rados family, Joel has been given the opportunity to grow, learn and dream about his future.
Joel already has a dream for his future. When he grows up, he wants to become a doctor. His dream reminds us why giving children a safe home, an education and the chance to believe in themselves matters so much.
At Rados Initiative, we want Joel to grow knowing that his beginning does not have to determine his future. We will continue walking alongside him, supporting his education and encouraging him to pursue the dreams he carries in his young heart.
From a one-year-old boy who had lost the person he depended on most, Joel has grown into a six-year-old with a home, an education and a dream. His story is a reminder that every child deserves a chance to grow in safety, discover their potential and look toward the future with hope.
